FAQ

Is there any charge for a Pharmacy to use SkriptMD?

No. SkriptMD is free to all Pharmacies in Canada.
Patients should ideally match with a Doctor in their home Province but it is not mandatory.
Only sign up as a Pharmacy if the pharmacy staff will have access to the email and password that is registered on the Portal.
Otherwise, the pharmacy should be "created" by a patient to receive prescriptions by electronic fax (eFax).

Are doctors registered verified by SkriptMD?

Yes. All doctors signing up to use SkriptMD must provide their office phone number which matches their profile on the College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSO) website. The Administrator of the system will call each doctor to confirm their details before accepting them onto the Portal.

Are Pharmacies also verified by SkriptMD?

Yes. Pharmacies are also verified by calling the office number provided which should match the phone number on the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP). Once verified, the Administrator will accept the Pharmacy.

Can a pharmacy receive a prescription from SkriptMD even if they are not registered on the Portal?

Yes. A patient can add any pharmacy in Canada and the prescription will be sent by secure electronic Fax.
Only sign up as a Pharmacy if the pharmacy staff will have access to the email and password that is registered on the Portal.
Otherwise, the pharmacy should be "created" by a patient to receive prescriptions by electronic fax (eFax).

Are prescription sent via SkriptMD safe?

Yes. The prescription is sent through a secure Portal that uses 2-factor authentication. The prescription is sent directly from the Doctor to the Pharmacist on the website. The patient cannot print nor access the final signed prescription. This is likely safer than the traditional method of the doctor handing over a paper prescription to the patient.

Does the OCP accept electronic transmission of a Prescription?

Yes. As per the Policy “Faxed Transmission of Prescriptions” published in March 2007 and revised in June 2015. Fax means transmission of the exact visual image of a document by way of electronic equipment. Secure web mail Portal is acceptable just like a valid Fax.

Is the SkriptMD prescription sent to Pharmacy by email?

No. This would not be allowed since email is not considered secure as per OCF policy noted above. The pharmacist will get an email to notify that there is a prescription which has been approved by a doctor pending on the Portal. The Pharmacist would have to sign in to their SkriptMD account to view the Prescription.

Can the Pharmacist print the Prescription off the SkriptMD portal?

Yes. Prescriptions are created using Adobe Sign with the doctor’s e-signature at the bottom. Only the Pharmacist can print this Adobe document if needed. All Prescriptions will be saved in the SkriptMD server and on the Pharmacy profile.

Is the SkriptMD portal PHIPA compliant?

Yes. The web hosting company is PHIPA compliant and the health information custodian is a Medical Doctor registered in Ontario with the CPSO.
